Medical Dilemma

Turns out, after seeing the Doctor, I am Lactose intolerant, Gluten Intolerant, and Insulin resistant….So I now have massive limits on what I can eat, which is also why I have not been losing weight, I have been thinking I was eating fairly healthy but my body didn’t think so….So I been checking out the free from foods, they are like double the price of normal stuff!!!! How do they get away with charging so much??? It’s robbery!! I think I am feeling a bit down about the massive restrictions on my diet…I realise that these restrictions will mean I will in all probability lose weight again, but it’s like…As soon as you know you CAN”T have something, you instantly crave it….I can’t stop thinking about burgers and donuts…2 things I can no longer have….

Is anyone else out there in this situation??? How do you cope??

cm not pounds…..??

I have been sticking at this for about 6 weeks now…..true enough I have had a few lazy days where I have not done the excersice but that has mainly been due to the never ending battle with time management due to my job….My partner keeps saying my shape looks like it is changing…I don’t see it. Particularly as the scales weren’t reflecting any pounds lost. Then my trainer suggested I take my measurements….to my suprise it has started to come off but so far it seems to be all in cm….like a cm off the waist, half a cm off each thigh and the upper arms….I don’t get it?? Shouldnt the fat be going to then? Of course I am hardly gonna winge if it is working but still I don’t get it….oh well I’ll just keep going and soon hopefully the scales will start to reflect it too.

Advice or encouragement please!

I am simply looking for some encouragement….I have been at my new regime for a total of 2 weeks (i was doing it kinda half heartedly for about 3 months)….I guess I am just asking, have any of you other buddyslimmers got some input on how long it took for you to begin shifting off weight noticeably? I have of course lost a few pounds, but nothing I can visually see, also the upper abdoment seems to be a pocket area of fat for me, and I’m at a loss at what to do. The workouts are taking care of the lower abs just above my pelvis, but the upper abs under my rib cage don’t seem to be doing a thing, I am quite aware of the fact it gives the impression that my tummy is bigger than it is, My waist is smaller than the part above it? Can anyone help??

Keep your head held high with a smile and confidence..

So I just finished another work out at the Kinesis circuit….whoa! You would never think such slow controlled movements would bring out such sweat!!! After such an invigorating work out I thought all you Buddy slimmers might like some tips if your into the same sports as me, I had a word with the so so cute trainer about the excersise plan I’m on and asked about length of time you should expect for seeing actual results. His answer was about 1 month to start seeing some results, 4-6 months to see noticable results and 12 months to achieve my goal of 2 stone in weight loss and firmer look to my shape. He also advised when you are doing a swimming routine as a main form of work out to mix it up a little. If you find freestyle hard to maintain for a long period try 5 laps breast stroke and 2 laps free style then 5 laps breast stroke again. After you have done that as many reps as you can manage get a kick board and just do about 10-15 laps with the kick board to work out your life half, then get the thigh float to support your legs under the water whilst you do 10 - 15 laps purely using your freestyle or breast stroke moves to pull your body through the water, working out your upper body. You can also use the thigh float technique with back stroke. Then return to the first stage of breast stroke and freestyle for 12 laps and finich off with a slow breast stroke for about 5 laps to cool down. Obviously as you do it for longer you can gradually increase the number of laps you do till you hit a comfortable work out peak. Another tip, after each set of laps take a 3 minute rest and take your pulse to ensure your heart rate is increasing.

SO I just thought I would share this info with all of you in the hope would help inspire you to achieve your dreams.! It will happen eventually just patience is needed! :)

Feeling a little dejected….Why must people comment on your weight?

So I am at work yesterday, and I have a few colleagues commenting on the fact that they are really impressed with my motivation to swim and swim and swim, a few even jealous because they say they just couldn’t have the dedication to do it. I am feeling pretty chuffed with myself, thinking yeah i am doing really well!. So I start to organise the group as clients begin arriving (I work in mental health) and one of the female clients overhears about my new found dedication to swimming and trying to eat right and says “yeah I didn’t want to say anything before, but you HAVE put on weight since you moved here”…..Ok so I have I know that but I don’t need someone to point it out to me! What could I do but laugh and say “Yeah i know I enjoyed myself a little too much when I first got here but now it’s time to be serious and get back to my goals” ….(background- I was a stone and a half lighter when I first came the UK then over xmas my weight crept up a little and now I am focused back on trying to lose that weight and get my fitness back….BUT that still doesnt change the fact that I am 5 stone lighter than I was in 2006)….I just think people should keep negative comments, or pointing out the obvious to themselves! I mean when you have gained weight it’s not like your not aware of it! You don’t go around blaming the fact all your clothes have shrunk do you? NO you go well I need to be serious again and get back to working on it…..Grrr I ‘think thats my pet peeve at the moment..and I’m trying not to feel dejected about it….My partner has always said I look wonderful to him and Not one other person has commented on the fact that I put on Little weight since moving here but her….I just didn’t need that. BACK to the pools for another hour of swimming as many laps as I can manage. Thank god for the calorie counter on here! at least I am now aware of what I eat and what calories it has, I didn’t know before this as I had never really bothered to look…..

AHHH water sports…love it!

Yes I was at it again! This morning up bright and early at 6:30. At the pool by 7 am and just finished a mile swim followed by a 10 lap back and forth running in water….Legs feel like jelly now, but I thought what the hell? I don’t have to be at work till 10am, may as well get in a work out. Only wish there were more hot looking guys to look at! LOL…The life guards all look about 16 and the male swimmers were all over 40..not that theres anything wrong with being over 40 I’ll be ther in 10 years…..

Another nwebie to Buddy Slim joins the Never ending war on fat and poor health

Well everyone….yes I am a newbie. I have been going at this alone for about 2 and half years..So thought some support would be nice, and well If I can help anyone out I’m glad to oblige. So last night I went to do my first Kenesis Circuit Class followed by Water Aerobics. I was so jazzed after the work out I couldnt sleep for hours…But today I woke up sore as if I’d been lifting weights and running a marathon! So I will stick with it! If it hurts this much it’s bound to have benefits. Going back for round two tomorrow….
